Hi, my name is Brent Sutherland. First and foremost, I am a self-professed money nerd. Not a day goes by where I am not either reading about personal finance, listening to podcasts about money, or checking my own household financials. Yes, it's a sad existence for some but I absolutely love it. On this note, it only makes sense that I am also a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and have worked in financial services for over 12 years.
My history with finances has been an ever-evolving journey. I steered the more traditional path until around 2012. This is when I became rather obsessed with finding ways to more creatively putting my money to use in order to achieve financial independence earlier than age 60. Much earlier.
Therefore, my objective is to help individuals turn off the noise and challenge the traditional approach to financial planning and thinking. In my experience as a financial advisor and personal finance enthusiast (+ early retirement advocate + semi-minimalist + real estate investor), I have found that most often the simplest solutions and some outside the box thinking will better help individuals on their way towards sitting firmly in the driver's seat of their own personal economy.

Personally, I was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia, but now call the city of Pittsburgh home. I have a wonderful wife and a mischievous dog; and like to spend my free time traveling to new places, visiting with family and friends, driving myself a bit insane over Virginia Tech sports, reading Game of Thrones spoilers, and (of course) geeking out over the latest personal finance products and ideas. I am of 69% British and Irish descent, with a sprinkle of seemingly everything else under the sun.
Just because I am located in Pennsylvania does not mean that we can't connect. I offer a one-on-one meeting option for individuals in any state, and am active on social media. Feel free to follow me on your favorite platform, or by signing up for the newsletter at the bottom of the page.
