About me

Hi, my name is Brent Sutherland.  Professionally, I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner and have worked in financial services for over 11 years.  During this time, I've gained experience within the corporate accounting and investment world, and in the boutique financial planning arena.  I have witnessed, firsthand, how the financial services industry has fashioned itself into an overly complex machine in an effort to cause confusion, encourage mistakes, and justify fees; all to better benefit its own bottom line.  I believe there is a strong correlation between financial noise and financial mistakes which further delay one's personal financial success.

Therefore, my objective is to help individuals turn off the noise and challenge the traditional approach to financial planning and thinking.  In my experience as a financial advisor and personal finance enthusiast (+ early retirement advocate + semi-minimalist + real estate investor), I have found that most often the simplest solutions and some outside the box thinking will better help individuals on their way towards sitting firmly in the driver's seat of their own financial world.

For more insight into my thought process and the rationale behind starting Ntellivest, feel free to take a peek here.

Personally, I was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwestern Virginia, but now call the city of Pittsburgh home.  I have a wonderful wife and a mischievous dog; and like to spend my free time traveling to new places, visiting with family and friends, driving myself a bit insane over Virginia Tech sports, reading Game of Thrones spoilers, and (of course) geeking out over the latest personal finance products and ideas.  I am of 69% British and Irish descent, with a sprinkle of seemingly everything else under the sun.

Just because I am located in Pennsylvania does not mean that we can't connect.  I offer a one-on-one meeting option for individuals in any state, and am active on social media.  Feel free to follow me on your favorite platform, or by signing up for the newsletter at the bottom of the page.  That way, you won't miss out on any of the latest ideas or resources that will assist you in your journey towards financial independence.  If you would simply like to contact me directly, please do so by clicking the link below.
